  Tairyou Ichiba is a Japanese Restaurant, located on Kingsway Burnaby. I have passed by this restaurant every day on or off work. But, I have never been eaten at this place before. Finally, my fiance and I have decided to give a try at this place. Our experience is OK.
  
  Environment: Tairyou Ichia has very unique ancient wooden doors, which is different from other restaurants. Inside the restaurant, it's decorated with banners and Japanese artwork everywhere. This is a medium-sized restaurant. People can eat at the dining table with family or at the bar section by themselves.
  
  Service: This restaurant only opens from 5:30 pm to midnight every day. So, we came to this place right after work. The service is OK. The waitress is a little bit bossy. But, they are handling food and take orders fast.
  
  Food: Since it was our first time having food at this place, we decided a little bit everything to eat, such as sushi rolls, seafood, sashimis, and etc. The food came out of the kitchen fast. All the dishes have a great presentation. The sushi is delicious and authentic. Comparing with many sushi restaurants owned by Koreans, this place is an authentic Japanese Restaurant. The owners and waitresses all spoke Japanese. Because of this, all the dishes are so pricy.
  
  Final Thoughts: If you would like to try some authentic Japanese sushi rolls, Tairyou Ichia is a good place to go.

  My uncle's favourite to-fo Japanese Izakaya. He always requested in advanced for whole fish sashimi while we travel to Vancouver. They are super delicious. Udon is amazing and good deal. Skewers are very good in size.
  Street parkings are available.

  Been coming here for the last few years whenever I'm craving sushi and don't want to think of a new place to go to. This place is consistently busy whenever I show up for dinner. Usually tables are reserved and the only spots left are at the sushi bar. I don't mind this because I like to see them make the sushi. This time around, we ordered plenty of nigiri, so they actually served it similarly to an omakase. The sushi chef placed a plate on the ledge and placed each piece of nigiri on it. I was definitely not expecting that.
  
  Overall, sushi quality is pretty good and at a reasonable price. Toro here is only $2.00. It isn't the best, but it is pretty good, however sometimes they're out of it. The other fish are quite fresh. Two of the things I like to get from here are the seared nigiri and the mega nigiri. The seared salmon toro and the ika mayo are my favourites. They are fatty and delicious. The mega nigiri I always get is the chopped scallop. The chopped scallop is always overflowing and tasty. This time around I was craving some tamago and ordered the mega nigiri of it. It was a very long piece of tamago and barely fit on my plate. It had just enough sweetness to it and wasn't that artificial yellow colour. One of the specials I tried was the matsutake chawanmushi. It's a steamed egg custard with pine mushroom. This was a nice dish to have on a cold day. The egg was smooth and flavourful.
  
  I recommend coming here if you've never been. Their menu is quite large and has a variety of cooked to raw dishes. Definitely make a reservation if you know you're coming here ahead of time because they always seem to be busy.

  Atmosphere: medium, enough seating inside.
  
  Price: market value.
  
  Customer service: good customer service everything came out in a timely manner.
  
  Food: i had the basic avocado and cucumber roll. rolls were nice and tight.

  I wish I had better things to say about this restaurant, but the food quality was bad all around.  We ordered 3 sushi rolls and gyoza, and we didn't enjoy any of it.  Subpar for a Vancouver restaurant, sorry to say.  The menu was also difficult and unpleasant to read.
  The staff were fine, so I gave it 2 stars instead of one.
  It's too bad - the front is inviting with a beautiful doorway but we won't be returning.
